TECHNOLOGY & INNOVATION
At Hexonia, we focus on progress: state-of-the-art machinery, precisely coordinated production and logistics processes, an intensive exchange with our customers and the courage to break new ground make us an innovative company in the production of protective equipment for soldiers and security forces.
With high-end technologies and great professional expertise, we strive to drive change and have a positive impact on the world.
TECHNOLOGY
Our products and the demands placed on them are diverse. In our production halls at the Nettetal site, we therefore have a large number of state-of-the-art machines for processing and finishing textiles as well as for manufacturing ballistic products.
One of the core fields of our production deals with different knitting techniques for the production of underwear, ballistic underwear and skin-tight products such as combat shirts. We place a special focus on the seamless process, a circular knitting technique for producing seamless products to avoid friction and pressure points on the body.
With the most modern flat and circular knitting machines, we can combine complex functional aspects, such as air permeability, stretch and seamless freedom of movement as well as compression capability over different knitting zones in one textile product.
Our knitting machines are “state of the art” and are operated by experienced and trained personnel. The seamless process avoids cutting losses in the ready-made garment and thus contributes to the resource-saving production of knitted articles.
The waterproofness of individual components of the protective equipment is of great importance. In our production, we use high-frequency welding equipment to seamlessly join thermoplastic deformable materials. In this way, in addition to waterproofness, special stability and flexibility are created at the connection point.
State-of-the-art laser systems enable us to cut textiles and ballistic components into different shapes and to realize individual customer wishes.
Our 3D laser and various laser cutters cut materials with absolute precision. This ensures exact reproducibility and lays an important foundation for the quality of the end product.
Hexonia is equipped with its own high-performance hydraulic presses for the production of ballistic protective equipment and protectors. High-tech materials are joined together and pressed into shape under high pressure in the facilities. This is how helmet components, protective shields and body protectors are produced.
Thanks to many years of experience and investments in state-of-the-art production facilities, we can offer our customers a wide range of products in this field.
In product development, we often rely on the 3D printing process: We produce initial prototypes in our 3D printer, which we use to test new designs and functionalities.
In this way, we recognize product deficits at an early stage and can react accordingly. This allows us to push product developments forward quickly, and the 3D printer also enables us to produce very small series for customers.
Before our textile products are made up, they are finished in various steps. In the finishing process, we have fusing machines for different layouts to stabilize the shrinkage values.
The products are finished on special washing and finishing machines to meet the high clothingphysiological demands. Spinning oils and paraffins are removed in the process.
Innovation
Our research and development work focuses on developing innovative products that are both sustainable and environmentally friendly. In everything we do, we always have one thing in mind: the greatest benefit for our customers. We are in close dialogue with users and procurers to understand their individual requirements and develop products that are tailored to their specific needs. In our in-house research facilities, our product specialists and engineers are constantly testing new materials and technologies to ensure the advancement of our protective equipment. Our mission is to be at the forefront of the industry, driving change and making a positive impact on the world.
From the idea to the first draft: In our prototype studio, we convert our technical designs and cutting patterns into physical models. We use the prototypes to test the functionality, wearing comfort and usability of the newly developed products. We can thus identify product deficits at an early stage and react accordingly.
To ensure the quality of our products, we have a modern test laboratory. Here we can examine and evaluate material samples before they are tested in notified institutes. This gives us the opportunity to eliminate quality deficits at an early stage.
Our laboratory tests initially accompany the development and later also the manufacturing process of our products, starting with the raw material and ending with the testing of finished products.
Our laboratory equipment is state-of-the-art and operated by trained personnel. We attach great importance to precise and repeatable results in order to optimally check and adjust our products to the specifications required by the customer.
